Completely a paradise for wildlife lovers, Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 834.16 sq km and has been recognized as the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka. Declared as the National Wildlife Sanctuary in 1956, it is home to a variety of flora and fauna including tigers, woodpecker, hornbill, kingfisher, leopards, elephants, etc. Every year the sanctuary experiences many tourists flocking to the place to admire its beauty. Along with the nearby Anshi National Park, Dandeli houses around 40 tigers.
